Environmental Policy
Lucy's Environmental Policy supports the Management System
Policy found in Part 3 of Integrated management system manual.
Lucy recognises that its operations have an effect on the local,
regional and global environment within which we people live and
work. Having recognised this, the senior management in Lucy is
committed to continual improvements in environmental performance
and the prevention of pollution. This is achieved through working
with environmental regulations, laws and codes of practice that are
regarded as setting the minimum standards of environmental
performance.
Specific policies are written to cover some of the major
environmental aspects and include issues such as Energy use, Waste
production, Air emissions, Deleterious materials and Resource use;
however, due to a large number of environmental policies, these
will be effectively managed and implemented through a coordinated
Environmental Management System.
Policy Statements
Energy Use
The company will take measures to minimise energy use and
consumption through the conservation of resources and the use of
management tools to train and educate staff in energy
awareness.
Resource Consumption
Lucy will seek to address its impacts on the environment through
the adoption of a sustainable procurement policy; thereby,
conserving resources through efficient use and careful
planning.
Recycling
The company recognises that a primary part of its corporate
environmental strategy is sustainable waste management, and as such
recognises its responsibility to recycle materials, wherever
possible.
Disposal of Waste
Lucy is committed to minimising waste and controlling its
hazardous waste. This means controlling stock levels and using
registered and competent licensed waste carriers, as well as
disposing of all wastes through safe and responsible methods.
The Supply Chain
Lucy will begin to work with suppliers to ensure that they
recognise and reduce the environmental impact of their products and
its subsequent transportation. Lucy will also look for other
companies with ISO14001 Environmental Management Standard and a
proven track record in environmental performance.
Training Personnel
In order to ensure that all Lucy employees that come into
contact with hazards, environmental issues and situations, the
company is committed to implementing its policies through set
procedures, guidelines and training. This will be delivered to the
relevant personnel at all levels within the organisation and
consistently updated.
Targets and Goals
Lucy will set environmental targets and goals aimed at improving
the overall environmental performance of the company. This will be
achieved through the identification of the most significant
environmental aspects and the subsequent target to reduce the
aspects and likely impact.
Environmental Strategy
Lucy recognises that environmental management is amongst the
highest corporate priorities, and as a key determinant to
sustainable development. The company will periodically conduct
formal reviews of its activities to assure compliance with
environmental regulations and internal procedures.
All site operations must be conducted in a manner that
safeguards health, protects the environment, and conserves valuable
materials and resources.
Therefore, Lucy intends to improve corporate policies, programs,
and environmental performance which take into account technical
developments, scientific understanding, consumer needs and
community expectations with legal regulations as a starting point
with the view to apply the same criteria internationally.
